FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Free Holiday Decoration Service Available to Seniors and

Residents with Disabilities in Oakland County

Pontiac, Mich., October 15, 2009

decorate your home for the holidays – free of charge. Due to a generous donation following the

2008 holiday season, OLHSA is able to offer 49 free hours of holiday yard decoration this season as

part of the Family Support Services Program.

Holiday yard decoration is available to seniors or residents with disabilities in Oakland County for

Halloween, Thanksgiving and the December holidays. Interested residents should apply soon - the

first 49 hours to be scheduled will be free. Beyond the donated time, the service is available for

$18.00/hour.

Recipients of this service will need to provide all of the materials to decorate their homes and yards.

You provide the decorations and OLHSA will transform your home into a festive sight. Decorations

are limited to heights reachable by a standard-height ladder.

“We’re grateful for the donation that is making this possible,” said Marie Verheyen, Associate

Director for Older Adult Services at OLHSA. “Helping to enhance the holiday experience for our

neighbors is deeply rewarding and being able to provide the service free of charge is very exciting.”

The Family Support Services program provides a variety of valuable home assistance services

including bed making, leaf raking, assistance with purchase and installation of computers, and grocery

shopping among others. The program normally charges a fee of $18.00 per hour, but occasionally

receives donations that allow services to be offered free-of-charge. Donations are gratefully accepted

all year long.

To request holiday yard decoration service please contact Marie Verheyen at 248.209.2671.
